Welcome from the Health and Social Care Captain of 2024/25
From taking Health and Social Care last year, I realised that I would love to become the Captain. This is because it has been one of my favourite subjects in high school so far and it has taught me various skills and qualities that I think are needed in everyday life, like the different types of communication and how individuals should be treated in a care setting. This subject also creates many opportunities for jobs in the future, such as working in various homes for older adults (Retirement Home or Residential Home) or you could work as a GP in a GP surgery. I also wanted to become the Health and Social Care Captain because I would like to encourage individuals in years 8, 9 and 10 to take it as one of their options in the following year. I am very excited to be the Health and Social Care Captain for 2024-2025 and to work with Mrs Wiseman and I hope I can answer any questions that anyone has and what is involved in the subject.

The Cambridge National in health and social care will equip learners with sound specialist knowledge and skills for everyday use. It will also challenge all learners, including high attaining learners, by introducing them to demanding material and skills; encouraging independence and creativity; providing tasks that engage with the most taxing aspects of the National Curriculum (including values of care and the current legislation requirements and the importance of softer skills such as communication skills to ensure individuals right to independence and dignity).
